I am Susan, Doula and teacher of the pregnancy course “Relaxed Bevallen” in Amsterdam, Abcoude and surroundings. I am married and mother of two daughters.

After completing HBO-Facility Management, I worked as a Facility Manager for years. Yet the need to do something with Obstetrics has always been in the back of my mind.

Together with my husband and daughters, I lived abroad for several years, first in Dublin and later in New York. In the New York, I met a Doula at a course on "infant CPR". I had never heard of a Doula before, but got into a conversation about her work. At that time the pieces of the puzzle fell into place for me and it suddenly became clear to me: this is what I wanted to do!

It remains a miracle, the entire pregnancy and the birth of a baby. In the New York I started a Doula training and once back in the Netherlands I successfully completed the Doula training in Utrecht. At the same time I followed a course for teacher “Relaxed Bevallen” with Hypnobirthing & Mindfulness.

The world of pregnancy and birth has always fascinated me and that is why I decided to focus on guiding (expectant) parents during this special period. My work as a Doula and teaching the course ties in beautiful with this, giving women and their partners confidence in the journey of the pregnancy and the birth of their baby.

The birth of your child is one of the most precious moments of your life and you don't want to miss a moment of it. If the situation allows it I can also take photos of this important day. Photography is one of my hobbies and I have taken a number of photography courses.
